Wedding Music
Wedding Music for the meal
Soft background wedding music while you dine is very relaxing
and comfortable. Choosing one genre or style for the duriation of
your wedding breakfast works well. Options for wedding songs include
rat pack/swing, classical, modern love songs, orchestral/string
quartet/piano instrumentals.
Wedding Music for the Evening
Wedding Reception For some venues, the evening wedding
reception takes place in the same room as the meal. In these cases,
guests are usually moved to a bar or lobby area while the staff turn
the room round and the evening entertainment sets up. For larger
venues, a separate function room is allocated for the evening
wedding reception and the DJ or band can be set up ready for you to
move in after your meal.
Ideally, you need background
wedding music playing while your guests get settled into the room
and allow time for evening guests to arrive.
The first dance
traditionally signals the start of the evening reception. Your first
dance could be a song that you both determine is 'your song' or a
first dance wedding song could be chosen because of the
appropriateness of the lyrics, the song holds special memories for
you both or the sentiment behind the song has meaning.
You can
choose to dance the whole song withjust the two of you. If you are
nervous about your first dance, you can opt for the DJ to fade the
wedding song off after the first verse and chorus or invite
bridesmaids, the wedding party or all guests to join you.
After
the first dance, you can choose to include other slow wedding music
for groups of people such as father and bride, mother aand groom,
bridesmaids and groomsmen, the wedding party and all guests. As with
the first dance, you can instruct your DJ to invite others onto the
dance floor at any time.
If submitting a playlist of wedding
music to your wedding DJ consider limiting the number to allow the
DJ to use his expertise in judging the tastes of your guests and the
popularity of certain genres. Its worth bearing in mind that some
songsyou enjoy listening to on your i-pod do not
always work well on the dancefloor. If in doubt, discuss your music
choices with your DJ and ask for his expert opinion. Also consider
submitting a 'do not play' list of songs that you would make you cringe if
you heard them at your wedding reception.
Remember, it is
your day and your Wedding DJ will be only too pleased to take your
musical ideas into account to ensure your evening wedding reception is exactly
how you want it.
